Renaissance Journalism Center’s LearningLAB

You are invited to participate in the LearningLAB, the Renaissance Journalism Center’s multimedia training conference for the community and ethnic media and nonprofit organizations.  it will be held Friday and Saturday, October 1-2, from 9am-4pm at San Francisco State University’s College of Extended Learning, 835 Market Street, San Francisco.  Please check out the conference website for details: http://rjclearninglab.com/.

On Friday, participants choose from a wide selection of in-depth workshops on new media skills and social networking strategies, taught by leading trainers in multimedia and social media.

Workshop topics include: Video storytelling on the Web; Audio on the Web: learn to use digital recorders and editing software, and how to publish online using free tools; WordPress websites and blogs on a shoestring budget; Social Media—two offerings, one for beginners and one for those with more advanced skills; Introduction to micro-volunteering and crowd-sourcing for community journalism projects; Get the most out of your Web searches using free Google products; and much, much more!

On Saturday, we are offering  two intensive all-day boot camps—one in English and one in Spanish—facilitated by Oakland Local and Nuestra Voz, respectively. In each boot camp, you get the opportunity to try your hand at producing a multimedia story from start to finish, even uploading your finished story to the Web.

The regular registration fee is $30 for the Friday workshops and $30 for each bootcamp.
